The role is positioned within NEPI’s Fabrication Engineering function, which supports nuclear manufacturing by converting customer and design-authority inputs into executable fabrication packages.
1) Role Deliverables
The Project Engineering delivers the following:
- Review/Preparation of MITP, Technical Specifications (TS), and Scope of Work (SOW): client to NEPI; NEPI to client/sub-vendor
- Review, evaluate, and disposition non-conformances (NCRs) in accordance with applicable codes/standards and client specifications; provide technically sound resolutions to shop queries while supporting timely project execution.
- Prepare Corrective Action Reports (CARs) for major/repeating NCRs
- Create Test Procedures and Manuals for projects (non-NDE, non-inspection)
- Prepare material/service/equipment Special Requirements (SR) forms (namely, but not limited to, NE-097, NE-101and NE-102 ) as a part of Procurement Requisition Package
- Perform/review design calculations as needed; for billable projects, quality audits, as well as capital projects
- Generate Design Deviation Request (DDRs) and Concession Applications (CA’s) based on NEPI proposal
- Review fabrication drawings from a code compliance standpoint
- Maintain billable project documentation and folder structures for the PMO and Engineering Manager, ensuring project records are complete, current, and readily accessible to support execution, audits, and client deliverables.
2) Key Accountabilities
1. MITP/ Technical Specifications/ Scope of Work
· Review and develop complete understanding of client Technical Specifications (TS) and Scope of Work (SOW) during contract review phase
· Prepare Manufacturing and Inspection Test Plan (MITP) in collaboration with Fabrication Engineering, Production and Quality teams
· Prepare and review specifications for sub-vendors, ensuring all technical, quality, and regulatory requirements are appropriately flowed down, aligned with client specifications, and compliant with applicable codes and standards
2. Accurate and timely dispositioning of NCRs/IDRs; generate applicable CARs
Take prompt, engineering-sound action in the disposition of NCRs and IDRs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes/ standards, and client requirements while minimizing impacts to project schedule.
3. Test Procedures/Operating Manuals
· Create and maintain Test Procedures (non-NDE, non-inspection) that are technically accurate, code compliant, and practical to implement on the shop floor
· Actively participate in design reviews with the NACI team/ design subcontractors, providing practical recommendations on testing requirements during the early stages of product development to ensure feasibility
4. Special Requirements
· Identify special/supplementary/unique requirements for materials, services, and equipment specified in client contracts /technical specifications, and ensure these requirements are accurately communicated and flowed down to the Procurement team and applicable sub-vendors
· These requirements become a part of the Procurement Requisition Package
5. Perform/review design calculations
· Perform and review design calculations for billable projects and liaise with NACI or other design house as required to support timely technical acceptance, P.Eng. review, and stamping of design documentation
· Develop, maintain, and update demonstration vessel and pipe support calculations in accordance with the latest applicable ASME Codes, and support QA activities related to code reconciliation
· Provide engineering analysis and calculation support to the Fabrication Engineering team for capital projects
6. DDR and CA creation
· Review commercial and technical exceptions identified in NEPI proposals and, following project award, generate the applicable Design Deviation Requests (DDRs) and Concession Applications (CAs) to ensure alignment with contractual commitments
