About Stevans Commercial Interiors
Stevans is a Canadian supplier serving long-term care, retirement, healthcare, and commercial environments across Canada for more than 30 years. Our customers include more than 1,000 communities from Vancouver to St. John’s. We provide furniture, window coverings, fabrics, and interior solutions designed to meet the demands of senior living and healthcare environments - from product selection and quoting through procurement and installation support.
Stevans offers a collaborative environment where motivated individuals can build long-term careers (our average employee tenure is 10+ years!). We provide a competitive base salary and bonus structure, a flexible vacation and time off program, and comprehensive benefit coverage.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will build the quotes and proposals that win our projects, covering furniture, window coverings and blinds for long-term care, retirement, healthcare, and commercial clients. You will work with the largest operators across Canada on projects large and small, from a single reorder to complete new builds and full renovations.
This is a mission-critical sales role at the centre of our business. It is a fast-paced, multifaceted position where no two projects will look exactly the same. You will take opportunities from a variety of sources, including online RFPs and tenders, architectural drawings and specifications, bid packages, customer emails, previous order history, and requests handed off from our field sales team. Your job is to turn that information into an accurate, well-thought-out solution for the customer.
The position is based out of our Brantford office and is primarily in-office, with occasional travel as required. This is a full-time salaried position with a competitive bonus structure that rewards performance and contribution.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary with bonus opportunities
- Comprehensive health benefits and flexible vacation policy
- Commitment to professional growth
- A mission-driven culture focused on excellence and client satisfaction
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quotes and proposals for FF&E projects large and small, including furniture, window coverings, blinds, and soft goods, with the opportunity to expand into new product categories as we grow.
- Take opportunities from a variety of sources, including online RFPs and tenders, architectural drawings and specifications, bid packages, customer emails, field sales handoffs, and existing customer order history, and turn them into complete solutions.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings, floor plans, and specifications to complete accurate take-offs, product counts, and room-by-room breakdowns.
- Become an expert in the Stevans product portfolio and our vendor lines. Understand our products inside and out so you can confidently recommend the right products, fabrics, finishes, specifications, and alternates for each customer's needs, budget, and environment.
- Develop product recommendations suited to senior care environments, considering durability, infection control, safety, functionality, appearance, and overall value.
- Own the customer relationship after handoff from our field sales team. Answer questions, solve problems, and help move the project from initial request through to a successful order.
- Build and maintain detailed pricing, including vendor costs, discounting, freight, installation, and margin. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical to this role.
- Act as the link between our customers, field sales team, vendors, and internal operations.
- Source products, confirm specifications, pricing and lead times, chase down answers, and make sure proposals go out complete and on time.
- Respond to BIDs, RFQs, RFPs, and tender packages for projects of all sizes, while managing the smaller day-to-day customer requests that keep our business moving.
- Work with customers, designers, architects, and head office contacts to align product selections with project requirements, budgets, and healthcare durability standards.
You are a great fit for the role if:
You are relentless about solving problems - You leave no stone unturned to deliver solutions to customers on time, “The Stevans Way”. When a product is discontinued, a lead time slips, or a budget is tight, you find the path forward.
You are comfortable with ambiguity – You want responsibility early, move with urgency, and measure yourself by what you get done. You are comfortable navigating changing priorities and imperfect information, and you push the agenda to help the company continuously improve.
You are very comfortable with numbers - You are strong in Excel and precise with accuracy. You have exceptionally high attention to detail and build accuracy checks into your work.
You are a team player – “We before me”. You value collaboration, share credit, and listen to other perspectives. We celebrate wins and learn from losses together. Your contributions make the team stronger.
You act like an owner - You take initiative, own outcomes, and operate with accountability. You will help set the standards this team runs on for years.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in estimating, quoting, specification, or inside sales, in furniture, FF&E, interiors, building products, construction or a related industry.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specification documents.
- Strong Excel skills and a high comfort level with numbers, pricing, and margin math.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable communicating directly with customers and vendors.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple quotes and deadlines at once.
Asset
- A diploma or degree in interior design, architectural technology, or a related field.
- Experience with bids, RFQs, and tender submissions.
- Familiarity with design, specification, or takeoff software such as AutoCAD, Revit, CET Designer, SketchUp, 2020, and Bluebeam.
